NOOBMASTER69’S IDENTITY FINALLY REVEALED

You don’t need a Vibranium shield to be a hero. Admittedly, it does help.

This
Xbox employee, Aaron, may prove familiar to some hardcore MCU fans
as he was previously seen working at an Apple Store that Steve and Natasha visit during the HYDRA uprising of
Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Throughout the promo, Sam is shown trying out several games from the service on the Xbox Series X, accompanied by brief snippets of the footage from the upcoming Disney+ series.
All of this is old footage, but the most exciting element comes after the Disney+ title card. Aaron says to Sam his Gamertag — an Xbox username — is “NoobMaster69.”

“NoobMaster69” was previously mentioned in
Avengers: Endgame
as a
Fortnite
player who killed Korg and sent Thor into a moment of rage.

Aaron goes on to explain this was a name his cousin chose but seemingly provides an answer to the question of the mysterious
Fortnite
player from
Endgame
.
Many fans had previously speculated this could be revealed as Deadpool when he eventually joins the MCU, but it seems that isn’t the case.

I CAN’T BELIEVE IT’S NOT DEADPOOL!
Naturally, Thor being killed by the elusive “NoobMaster69” in a
Fortnite
match in
Avengers: Endgame
was included as a joke. However, it led many to speculate that Marvel could use the
Fortnite
gamer in the
upcoming
Deadpool 3 —
which will take place in the MCU
.
When Disney acquired Fox, it seemed like the perfect fan theory that Deadpool would be “NoobMaster69,” making the perfect punchline to a several-year-old joke. Granted, if this was something Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige and company wanted to do, it’s unlikely they’d let an Xbox promo stop them from doing that. But, for now, it seems Aaron was the one to kill Thor during the iconic scene.
Although Aaron does mention in the final seconds of the promo that his cousin chose the name, could Ryan Reynold’s Deadpool be said cousin? Aaron is played by comedian D.C. Pierson, so he could be well-placed in the comedic
Deadpool
films.

It’s hard not to end up overthinking such a clever joke by Marvel, especially with the potential it could bring to subtly link
Endgame
into future projects.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
will debut on March 19, 2021, exclusively on Disney+.
