Marvel fans finally have new material to enjoy at the start of Phase 4 with both

WandaVision

and

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

having aired their full first seasons on Disney+. Thankfully, being an MCU fan means having over a decade’s worth of material to rewatch and enjoy, especially when particular release anniversaries need to be celebrated.

The most recent of these occasions came a few days ago with

the two-year anniversary for

Avengers: Endgame

, which currently stands as

the second-highest-grossing movie ever made

. While the film served as a memorable retrospective to everything that had come before it in the MCU, it also brought some of the most thrilling character team-ups of the Infinity Saga.

One of those unique duos was the subject of a recent social media post, including two stars who came into the fray during Phase 3.

“HEY, NICE TO MEET Y- OH MY GOD!!!”

Valkyrie actress Tessa Thompson took to

Instagram

to celebrate National Superhero Day, including behind-the-scenes pictures from the sets of

Avengers: Endgame

and

Thor: Ragnarok

in her post. She capped off the post with the following caption:

“Yesterday was National Superhero Day apparently. So I started looking through old pics. From my clumsily training for the first film (pardon Le French, kiddies) to seeing the character evolve in the comics, it’s been a crazy dream playing Valkyrie. Our oddness + our traumas are also our superpowers. So says my fav real life superhero Mark Ruffalo, “We’ve got to love ourselves, buddy’.”

Thompson is seen here all smiles in full costume with Spider-Man actor Tom Holland in shock behind her on the set of

Avengers: Endgame.

Thompson shared multiple images of herself as Valkyrie on an on-set wall, all from her first appearance in Marvel Studios'

Thor: Ragnarok

.

BEHIND THE SCENES OF A MCU BLOCKBUSTER

Valkyrie only received about eight minutes of screen time in

Avengers: Endgame

, and that number was even smaller for Peter Parker after playing a larger role in

Avengers: Infinity War

. But that didn’t stop the Asgardian warrior from making her mark on the film,

particularly as she flew in on horseback

during the final battle.

Making her second MCU appearance, Tessa Thompson has

consistently shown her enthusiasm for playing the role of Valkyrie

, especially joining the MCU’s biggest team-up effort to date in

Endgame

. Calling it

“a crazy dream”

to bring the Marvel Comics heroine to life, her joy can only be seen as genuine as her smile shines in the newly released photos from set.

Thompson will continue as Valkyrie in 2022’s

Thor: Love and Thunder

,

where she will once again team up with Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder

as they take on an expectedly dangerous adventure.

Her relationship with Jane Foster

will be something to keep an eye on as Jane wields Mjölnir, joining forces with Sif and the Guardians of the Galaxy, their best will be needed to take down

Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher

.

Thor: Love and Thunder

will release in theaters on May 6, 2022. Tom Holland will appear next in

the equally massive

Spider-Man: No Way Home

, debuting on December 17, 2021.
