The release of HBO Max hasn’t been the smoothest compared to other streaming services
with reviews reflecting this
. But, one of the biggest outcries from subscribers, specifically DC fans, was the
sudden removal of dozens of DC titles
just a month after the service launched.
However, an HBO representative was quick to comment about how
“We have a new batch coming in July and then another batch coming in August,”
and that new batch has seemingly been released on the streaming service for this July.

It has been pointed out by Jeremy Conrad
and others that HBO Max has removed the theatrical cut of
Batman v Superman
and replaced it with the Ultimate Edition.

Additionally, Warner Brothers has also added every classic Superman movie, including

WHAT THIS MEANS
Before fans jump the gun about the theatrical cut of
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
and think this is some kind of condemnation of that cut, it’s simply about streaming licenses expiring or the conditions of those licenses forcing this to happen. In fact, the removal of this cut was announced a month ago alongside dozens of other DC movies, including the continuously lauded
Wonder Woman
.

So, considering the
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice: Ultimate Edition
is a different cut of the movie, it likely has a different streaming license separate from the theatrical cut.
As for the addition of all the Superman movies, again, they’re on there likely due to how their streaming licenses were written or previous agreements finally ran out. Despite HBO Max having a shaky start, especially with the availability of some of their movies and shows, these additions should help tide over fans until Zack Snyder’s
Justice League
is eventually released next year.
