As the MCU makes big strides into its new era of storytelling, one portion of Marvel’s already existing franchises left in the dust are the heroes of
the Netflix
Defenders
series
. Even though the rights to use characters like Daredevil and Jessica Jones on screen
transferred from Netflix to Marvel Studios
at the end of 2020, the studio has been very quiet regarding any plans to bring these characters into the larger MCU.

While this is a disappointment for thousands of fans at the moment, there seems to be plenty of Netflix stars that would love to return to their roles given the right opportunity. One of the biggest of these stars (both literally and figuratively) just gave some insight into the potential of an MCU return.

star Vincent D’Onofrio shared
a link from Screenrant
discussing how a return of his character, Wilson Fisk, could potentially ruin the character arc. He gave this intriguing reply along with the article link:

WHAT THIS MEANS
Daredevil
had one of the more successful runs of the six separate Marvel shows on Netflix, largely do to the ever-present force and power behind D’Onofrio’s portrayal of the Kingpin of crime, Wilson Fisk. His sheer brutal domination mixed with his terrifyingly understated performance helped contribute to one of the most impressive and universally loved on-screen renditions of any Marvel villain in film and TV history.
There are
currently no concrete plans
to bring any characters from the Netflix series back into the MCU for future films, and it will be interesting to see if anything ever materializes in that department. While most of the shows came out to overwhelmingly positive reviews from critics and fans, they have always seemed to be on the outskirts of the larger MCU with no strong connections to major events that have happened thus far.
As fans wait for the
ultimate debut of Phase 4
, in the back of minds everywhere is the fact that the Defenders’ futures are so uncertain in the MCU’s future plans. With how beloved and revered D’Onofrio’s portrayal of Kingpin turned out to be, it should be something that Disney and Marvel take a serious look at as the MCU grows ever more expansive.
