Of Rockstar’s ever-expanding library of critically-acclaimed titles from the last two decades,
Bully
is seen by many as the underdog by many.
The 2006 title put players into the shoes of mischievous schoolboy Jimmy, standing up to bullies and being picked on by the teachers of Bullworth Academy. The title has been re-released multiple times over the years and is now available across the PS2, PS3, and PS4. Fans have been clamoring for a sequel ever since the original release, however, despite multiple attempts by Rockstar, it has never been able to get off the ground — having been canceled in both 2008 and 2013.

Unfortunately for
Bully
fans, it looks as if history may have repeated itself, as reliable Rockstar sources are reporting the title has once again been canceled…
NEWS
A recent rumor — circulated by historically reliable Rockstar Games sources, Tez2 and Yan2295
— has claimed a sequel to
Bully
was at one point in development. However, the long-requested sequel was canceled in 2017 to focus resources on the development of
Grand Theft Auto 6
and
Red Dead Redemption 2
.
Reports have claimed
Grand Theft Auto 6
had originally begun development in 2015, however was slowed down in 2017, due to the extra focus needed to meet the launch deadlines of
Red Dead Redemption 2
and
Bully 2
— both of which were set for 2018.

WHAT THIS MEANS
With Rockstar’s ongoing commitment to updating and releasing new content for both
GTA Online
and
Red Dead Online
alongside developing the highly-anticipated
Grand Theft Auto 6
, it’s no surprise to see the studio struggling to get any further titles off the ground.
The New York-based studio has a long-standing track record of large gaps between sequels with eight years passing between the release of
Red Dead Redemption
(2010) and its sequel (2018). Seven years have already passed since the 2013 release of
Grand Theft Auto 5
, and it looks as if fans should brace themselves for another long wait as
Kotaku insider Jason Schreier claims the title is still early in development
.
Despite this unfortunate setback for
Bully
fans, not all hope is lost, Rockstar has previous cancelled and resumed development before, so there is a high chance history will repeat itself here — likely once
Grand Theft Auto 6
concludes development.

For now, the classic title can still be experienced in all its glory on PC, Android, iOS, Wii, Xbox 360, PS2, PS3, PS4, and next-gen consoles (via backwards compatibility).
