. The director had big plans for an eventual Justice League adaptation, which initially included a two-part film. However, during production on
Justice League
, tragedy struck the Snyder family, and Zack Snyder (as well his wife,
Justice League
producer Deborah Snyder)
stepped down from their duties
on the film.
Joss Whedon was quickly brought in to finish filming
Justice League
, with the director eventually conducting extensive reshoots on the film to bring his own voice to the film, changing a lot of what Zack Snyder had originally envisioned. Now that Snyder is getting a chance to bring his cut of the film to life, the director has some passionate words about how he’s going to make the film truly his own.

Justice League
director Zack Snyder shared some more details on why he left the film, as well as what he is (and is not) planning on doing with his planned cut of the film.
Zack Snyder stated to the interviewers that
“It was our (Zack and Debbie’s) decision to leave the movie in the light of what happened.”
The director also revealed that it was Warner Bros., not him, who decided to hire Joss Whedon.
Snyder also went on to say that none of Joss Whedon’s footage would be making it into his cut of the film, stating:

There would be no chance on Earth that…I would use a shot [in the Snyder Cut] that was made after I had left the movie… I would destroy the movie, I would set it on fire before I would use a single frame that I did not photograph, and that is a fucking hard fact.
WHAT THIS MEANS
Zack Snyder is very passionate about making sure his planned cut of
Justice League
is going to be completely his own, and justifiably so. His comments about Joss Whedon being the studio’s decision seems to suggest that Snyder may not have completely approved of what Warner had planned for
Justice League
after his departure.
Given the reports that Joss Whedon only ended up
using a very small percentage
of what Zack Snyder had already filmed, if Snyder plans to use none of the Whedon scenes, it looks as if the Snyder Cut will truly be an entirely new
Justice League
experience. No
red skies
, no
red and blue Superman
suits, and no Whedon quips.
With the severity of what Zack and Deborah Snyder went through a few years ago, it’s nice to see the couple at a place where they can return to their work in such a passionate way. Fans have been anticipating the Snyder Cut since 2017, and with its release now almost a year away, both Zack Snyder and DC fans will soon get some much needed closure.
