Marvel Studios has an absolute boatload of news to celebrate at the moment, even as these dark times in history continue to affect the entire world. The studio is gearing up for
its debut on Disney+ with
WandaVision
by the end of the year, filming is nearly complete for
The Falcon and the Winter Solider
, and there have been a couple other major casting announcements for later series as well.
Recent weeks have brought news from the Disney+ side of the MCU on both Iman Vellani’s casting as Kamala Khan in
Ms. Marvel
and
Tatiana Maslany as Jennifer Walters in
She-Hulk
. However, it’s possible the some outlets may have jumped the gun a little early on Maslany’s inclusion in the MCU, if her new quotes are to be believed…

In
a new interview with The Sudbury Star
, Tatiana Maslany claimed that casting reports about her playing the titular character in
She-Hulk
aren’t true. When asked if she was excited to be in the new Marvel mini-series, she gave this quote, seemingly denying her involvement in the MCU:
That actually isn’t a real thing and it’s like a press release that’s gotten out of hand. It’s totally not — I’ve been connected to these things in the past and press has gotten onto it, but it’s not actually a thing, unfortunately.
When pressed further about her claim being legitimate, Maslany said the following:
Yeah, I don’t know how these things get — I don’t know, I don’t know. You know better; I have no idea. (Laughs.)
WHAT THIS MEANS
Even though stars in the MCU usually have to be incredibly secretive about
revealing any information at all about Marvel’s newest projects
, this feels like it could be little more genuine than most denials. There has been no official announcement by Marvel Studios, Maslany herself or her representatives, so there is still a possibility that she hasn’t been cast in the mini-series quite yet. However, at the same time, it’s very possible that Maslany is lying (she is an actress, after all) to avoid confirming her casting before Marvel themselves announce it.

Fans are hoping more than anything that Maslany is fibbing, as she’s a top-caliber actress who has numerous awards for her work, one being an Emmy for her performance on
Orphan Black.
Marvel’s usual levels of secrecy could be the culprit for this unexpected denial, and its possible that
her inclusion in
She-Hulk
will be confirmed in the very near future
. With the new era of the MCU on Disney+ set to arrive by the end of this year and later series beginning to film in 2021, it should hopefully only be a matter of time before nothing has to be hidden anymore.
She-Hulk
is set to begin shooting in early 2021
, with a release on Disney+ set for sometime in 2022.
