The Marvel Cinematic Universe is about to be overloaded with content in the best possible way after going all of 2020 and half of 2019 with no new releases.
Of the 25 confirmed movies and Disney+ projects
coming out between now and about 2023, 14 are sequels while nine center around heroes never seen in the MCU before.

Even with all of these plans, nothing more than discussions have been held for one of Marvel’s most expansive group of heroes, the X-Men. Thankfully, the man behind the MCU is well aware of this and is sure they will join the fray at some point.

In an interview with
Collider
, Marvel CCO Kevin Feige once again confirmed that while no set plans are in place for the X-Men, he and his team are keeping them firmly on the table for the MCU’s future.
When asked if Marvel Studios has figured out how they’re going to bring the mutants into play, Feige seemed to imply that their debut is likely over the next few years:

“It has been heavily discussed, as you might imagine. And we have a good feeling of where it’s going and when it’s going, but that all remains to be seen.”
While it’s likely that most of the mutants will be recast upon their entry into the MCU, their comic lore and history should have quite the impact on the MCU’s expanding story over the next few years. Even though they won’t be seen in full for a few years, the earliest teases for their arrival seem to be coming as soon as Phase 4 gets underway,

leading the way

Right now, the closest thing to any X-Man (sort of) having a solo project confirmed is
Ryan Reynolds'
Deadpool 3
, which will be set firmly within the MCU. The Merc with a Mouth will hopefully open the door to more of his mutant co-stars joining the Marvel universe, and it will be an event to watch out for as this new decade progresses.
