The Fantastic Four have had a tumultuous time when it comes to their film adaptations, but Marvel Studios will finally be giving their First Family a project that they deserve.

Following lackluster initial attempts and an unsuccessful reboot,

there were plans for the X-Men and the Fantastic Four

to face off before Disney’s acquisition of Fox. This is unlikely to happen now with the MCU film being led by

Spider-Man: Homecoming

and

Far From Home

director Jon Watts,

announced during Disney Investor Day last year

.

Many have campaigned

for

A Quiet Place

‘s John Krasinski and Emily Blunt to portray Reed Richards and Sue Storm, warranting fan-casting after fan-casting. Some fans have also wondered whether the aerospace engineer from

WandaVision

could in-fact be one of the F4 members

, potentially laying the groundwork for their eventual solo adventure.

Recent rumors

suggested that

X-Men

star Jennifer Lawrence would be heading to Australia

“next month”

to begin filming the upcoming

Fantastic Four

flick, causing confusion and excitement regarding her potential casting.

New information now suggests that the film is much earlier on in development than the rumors have made out…

FANTASTIC FOUR

STILL EARLY IN DEVELOPMENT

According to a

tweet

from Justin Kroll of Deadline, Marvel Studios has

“just started meeting with writers”

for

Fantastic Four

, with the film reportedly without a script at the moment. Kroll continues to say that it will be some time before the movie begins production.

The full tweet can be seen below:

All I’m gonna say is this, Marvel just started meeting with writers on FANTASTIC FOUR, there is no script and it will be awhile before this film starts shooting

FAR-OFF FUTURE FOR F4

Justin Kroll’s claims seem to debunk the claims that

Fantastic Four

would be shooting in a month’s time, in addition to Jennifer Lawrence’s potential casting. With the project only having been officially unveiled relatively recently, it would make sense for the film to need a bit more time in the oven. Jon Watts is also preoccupied with filming for

Spider-Man 3

, so it is unlikely that he would have made a significant amount of headway with

Fantastic Four.

There is still a chance that Jennifer Lawrence could be playing a character like Sue Storm, potentially showing up in another Marvel film currently shooting Down Under.

Thor: Love and Thunder

is shooting in Sydney at the moment, so there is a slim possibility that Lawrence could make an appearance.

For the time being though, it seems that fans of Marvel’s First Family will have to wait just a bit longer to hear more about

Fantastic Four

.
