Andor is set to open up an unexplored timeline from the Skywalker Saga: five years before the game-changing events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The series will feature the return of Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor, following his exploits and adventures throughout the galaxy for the undermanned Rebellion. Plot details are still being kept under wraps, but the tone of the show has been teased to be quite similar to Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, seemingly hinting that it will explore a much darker tone compared to other shows....

The story of Star Wars takes place across a very sizable timeline, with sometimes decades-long gaps between films, series, and other stories. For instance, nineteen in-universe years pass in-between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope and thirty between Return of the Jedi and T he Force Awakens . Lucasfilm is currently gearing up to launch their new publishing initiative: Star Wars - The High Republic . A series of interconnected novels and comic books set two hundred years before the Skywalker Saga is meant to tell the tale of a period when the Galactic Republic of the prequel trilogy was at its peak and the Jedi Order was at the height of its power....

Following the release of 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker and the conclusion of the Skywalker Saga, the future of Star Wars seemed a little uncertain. Disney’s sequel trilogy was met with mixed reactions; and apart from Lucasfilm’s ambiguous announcements about upcoming films and future trilogies, the next phase of storytelling from that galaxy far, far away was unknown.
