On top of that,

Endgame

’s final battle sequence provided a lot of callbacks to previous MCU films while also laying the groundwork for future stories down the road. However, one Avenger in the form of Scarlett Johansson’s Natasha Romanoff was absent during the famous sequence since she sacrificed herself for the team to obtain the Soul Stone.

And now, Johansson shared her hilarious reaction to Romanoff’s absence during

Endgame

’s final battle.

While

attending a virtual campaign fundraiser

hosted by Joe and Anthony Russ, several MCU veterans assembled for a trivia session, including the likes of Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Paul Rudd, Don Cheadle, and Scarlett Johansson.

During the virtual session, Rudd asked a question about the final battle of

Avengers: Endgame,

but Johansson hilariously pointed out that she was absent during the sequence by saying

“I wasn’t there so…sorry.”

While the short clip doesn’t reveal much, it still provides a fun glimpse at the bond shared by the MCU actors off-screen. Johansson

did previously revealed

that Romanoff already

“made peace”

with her fate during

Endgame

, but it’s still nice to hear the hilarious comment of the actress about her character’s absence during the climactic battle.

For some, it was

a missed opportunity

for Marvel Studios to include Natasha Romanoff during

Endgame

’s climactic battle since the character was the first female hero of the monumental franchise. It would have been fun to see Romanoff fighting side by side with the rest of the female heroes

during the “A-force” sequence

, but it seems that a more captivating resolution is in store for the character.

Next year’s

Black Widow

is poised to give a proper send-off for Romanoff while also

planting the seeds

for a potential replacement in the form of Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova. The Phase 4 entry is set to provide fans with an even deeper look at Romanoff’s past, and it seems that this is Marvel’s way of paying tribute to the female Avenger.

Not much is known if Johansson will return in the MCU at some point, but the looming presence of the multiverse concept could present a chance for the actress to reprise her role in the franchise. For now, fans can just look back at the bond among the actors as a form of MCU nostalgia.
