Warner Bros. is ramping up its DC content with films like

DC is one of the studio’s biggest franchises, so it makes sense that it’s getting so many headlining projects. However, it looks as though some DC Extended Universe characters will be popping up in an unexpected project.

Space Jam: A New Legacy
, the sequel to the 1996 hit
Space Jam
starring Michael Jordan and the
Looney Tunes
characters, is set to be released in cinemas and on HBO Max this summer. The film is a mash-up of live-action (with NBA star LeBron James playing himself) and animation like its predecessor, but this time, Warner Bros. is going all out, pulling characters from various franchises owned by the studio in the action.
Lola Bunny, who was first introduced during the original
Space Jam
and has since become a regular part of the
Looney Tunes
lineup, will be involved with bringing some DC characters into the fray.
Entertainment Weekly notes that this will be one of many instances of the
Space Jam
sequel utilizing Warner Bros.’ film IP.
A CROSSOVER FOR THE AGES
This confirmation does raise the question of whether viewers can expect to see any other DC characters in
Space Jam: A New Legacy
.
Warner Bros. has a lot of franchises they may want to include in the film, meaning there’s a ton of variety in the kinds of worlds that make up the DC universe; it might be fun to incorporate some undersea creatures of
Aquaman
, and the chaos of Margot Robbie’s
Harley Quinn
could certainly rival that of the
Looney Tunes
crew.
