Star Wars: The Last Jedi
is undoubtedly one of the most divisive films under the Skywalker Saga banner. The sequel sparked fan outrage, mainly due to its
handling of characters like Luke Skywalker
as well as questionable narrative decisions.
Still, it doesn’t discount the fact that it made the Star Wars franchise even more interesting. The film became a
major topic of discussion among fans (and even crew members)
on social media, with everyone giving their two cents about
The Last Jedi
.

Following the film’s premiere back in 2017,
The Last Jedi
director Rian Johnson revealed interesting tidbits about his film by sharing never-before-seen behind-the-scenes photos while also
promising a potential ‘making of’ book for the sequel
.
While fans debate if
The Last Jedi
is truly worth defending, another unused scene from the film has emerged.
AN ALTERNATE SCENE FROM
THE LAST JEDI
Star Wars concept artist Adam Brockbank shared an
“early unused idea”
for the Fathier chase scene in Canto Bight in
The Last Jedi
.

In the image, it showed an unknown alien trying to piece together a space relic. Moreover, Brockbank revealed that this was
“ultimately cut altogether”
to give way to the steam room scene that was featured in the theatrical cut of the sequel.

For those unaware, the steam room that was referenced is actually
Zord’s Spa and Bathhouse
.
A DIVISIVE RESPONSE TO CANTO BIGHT PLOT POINT
Not much is known about if this unused scene could’ve improved the Canto Bight sequence in some way, but it’s possible that it would’ve given an added glimpse to the crime space underworld of the galaxy far, far away. On top of that, it’s always fascinating to see a never-before-seen idea come to life through a piece of concept art.
Interestingly,
The Last Jedi
showcased
an extended
Fathier chase sequence as one of the film’s deleted scenes. It remains to be seen if the concept above was included, but there’s a strong chance that it did at one point to potentially add more fun elements to an intense moment.

Based on Brockbank’s reveal, Johnson and the rest of the crew mapped out multiple narrative directions for the “casino subplot” of the sequel, and one of those has been confirmed to feature
Poe joining Finn
instead of Rose. This latest piece of concept art might be a minor change, but this is just proof that this sequence served as one of the challenging sequences of the sequel.
It’s no secret that one of the hotly debated topics from
The Last Jedi
is the Canto Bight subplot. Some fans are saying that the plot point was unnecessary while others are insisting that it was essential to propel the character arc of John Boyega’s Finn.
At this point, it’s hard to envision a scenario where Star Wars fans will agree on something about
The Last Jedi.
