2020 was a big year for Star Wars creative Dave Filoni, who has been at the helm of two hit television series this year.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars
received a much-awaited, thrilling conclusion in its seventh season,
giving fans some much-needed closure
on Ahsoka Tano’s place in the universe following Order 66. The series’ success has even spawned a new animated show:
Star Wars: The Bad Batch
.
A new trailer was released
at Disney’s Investor Day 2020 and Dave Filoni himself
has discussed how it compares
to
The Clone Wars

Filoni’s biggest success, though, has come in the form of
The Mandalorian
, a Disney+ series that he has spearheaded alongside Jon Favreau. Season 2 has been a massive hit with audiences, particularly with how
Filoni integrated Ahsoka
into the show with Rosario Dawson in the role. The Togrutan Jedi’s journey will continue alongside Dave Filoni too, as
Jon Favreau recently confirmed
that Filoni is indeed writing Disney+’s
Ahsoka.
Filoni has now taken the holiday period to reflect, sharing a new drawing and message with Star Wars fans…

On Christmas Day,

From Dave Filoni
The drawing was accompanied by a message from Filoni, who expressed his gratitude for being able to create these stories for the fans:
On behalf of the crews of The Clone Wars and The Mandalorian, I want to thank everyone for your support this past year. It’s an honor and a privilege to be able to make stories for you, your friends and families to share. As we head towards the New Year, I wanted to share this small bit of wisdom from my mentor:
‘The best way to pursue happiness is to help other people. Nothing else will make you happier” - George Lucas
Happy Holidays,
Dave
Ahsoka and Grogu connected through the Force in “Chapter 15 - The Jedi,” though this sketch demonstrates the emotional bond that formed between the two. While their time together was short, the foundling left an impact on Ahsoka, both through Grogu being another Force user and his resemblance to the Jedi Master that she was familiar with.
Dave Filoni has become known for his illustrations of Ahsoka,
frequently drawing the character
alongside other Star Wars icons. Filoni co-created the then-Padawan alongside George Lucas, and his care and protectiveness over the character shines through with every sketch, animation, and shot that she appears in.

While George Lucas has little to do with Star Wars as of late, aside from the occasional set visit, it is clear that his influence carries on through Filoni’s contributions. Dave Filoni has continued to infuse the essence of what Lucas wanted for Star Wars going forward, and him sharing a piece of advice from the man himself keeps Lucas’ message going steady.

Season 2 is streaming now on Disney+.
