The Mandalorian

Season 2

Season two, episode four of

The Mandalorian

dropped recently on November 20, 2020. The episode contained a good number of teases to future episodes, potential

callbacks to previous Star Wars installments

, and even

elements that weren’t supposed to be present.

One such callback concerned a certain fan-favorite character who appeared in the show’s first season. IG-11 was a bounty hunter droid that assisted the title character, Mandalorian Din Djarin, back in season one and ultimately sacrificed himself to save the life of the show’s protagonist on the partially settled lava world of Navarro.

Chapter 12, Din Djarin and the Child return to Navarro for repairs. There, they are greeted by Cara Dune and Magistrate Greef Karga. As they walk through the settlement, fans will be able to spot a statue of IG-11, likely standing to memorialize the fallen droid.

IG-11 Easter egg from “Chapter 12” of

The Mandalorian

WHAT THIS MEANS

Now, obviously, this isn’t the real, original IG-11. Fans will certainly recall that he self-destructed in order to take care of a squad of Imperial Stormtroopers who were waiting to ambush the heroes back in Chapter 8 of the series.

This could possibly be another IG droid, but the statue visible in the background of the shot looks a little larger than life and seems to stand a bit taller than a standard droid of IG-11’s model.

Nevertheless, this is an excellent Easter egg/callback. It makes sense that Greef Karga or Cara Dune would have this statue placed in the town to honor the droid that gave his mechanical life to save theirs.
