The newest issue of Empire has been the latest source of new information about the film, which was accompanied by
two brand new covers
of the Suicide Squad pictured together. Several images
were revealed ahead
of the issue’s release, as well as a few details from director James Gunn. Gunn noted in the issue that he was
“given full freedom to kill anyone”
on the team, meaning any member of Task Force X could see their demise in the film.

The picture features, from left to right, Sean Gunn’s pre-mocapped Weasel, Pete Davidson’s Blackguard, Mayling Ng’s Mongal, Joel Kinnaman’s Rick Flag, Jai Courtney’s Captain Boomerang, Nathan Fillion’s TDK, director James Gunn, Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn, Flula Borg’s Javelin and Michael Rooker’s Savant.
The cast seem to have been caught mid-laughter, as they gleefully pose for the photo. The image also features the text ‘Original Sinners’ above the cast members.

WHAT THIS MEANS
The cast look to be in high spirits in the image, all laughing as the photo is being taken. This reinforces the strong relationship between the cast and director James Gunn, which the latter has commented on numerous times.
Gunn praises his actors any chance he gets, with the director
going out of his way
to say that Margot Robbie
“is probably the best actor [he’s] ever worked with, bar none.”
Gunn
also wrote the role
of Bloodsport specifically for Idris Elba, which he rarely chooses to do. The cast seems to have connected a lot over the production of The Suicide Squad, so this camaraderie should translate to the relationships seen in the film.

A smaller note in regards to the image itself is the appearance of Javelin’s boots, which seem to be somewhat chunkier and more elevated compared to the footwear of other cast members. Javelin’s ‘powers’ are presumably that he can throw around the weapons of his namesake, but his odd shoes could reinforce his athletic ability from the comics. This could indicate that the character has the ability to leap higher in order to use his javelins to their fullest potential, aiming at targets that he would not be able to identify from ground level.
