Even while the MCU builds up an impressive line-up of projects for the second half of 2021, it seems that the predominant topic on the minds of fans everywhere is still

Spider-Man: No Way Home

. And why shouldn’t it be?

Already definitively confirmed for this movie are Benedict Cumberbatch’s Stephen Strange and

Alfred Molina’s Doctor Otto Octavius

, lining up alongside Tom Holland’s titular hero. Rumors have pointed to

other villains from both previous live-action franchises

, along with

both previous Spider-Men

, and

the possibilities for others that may show up

are just about endless.

While

No Way Home

is certainly making headlines for the super-talent, it will also bring back key characters from the past two movies like Zendaya’s MJ, Jacob Batalon’s Ned, and

Jon Favreau’s Happy Hogan

. The most recent update for the film continues this trend with one of Peter Parker’s teachers coming back for more action.

JB SMOOVE COMING BACK TO THE MCU

Marvel

In a recent appearance on

The Daily Zeitgeist

podcast, via

iHeart Radio

, comedian JB Smoove confirmed that he will be returning to the MCU in

Spider-Man: No Way Home

. Smoove played Mr. Julius Dell in 2019’s

Spider-Man: Far From Home

, and he gave the following quote on his return for the threequel:

“I don’t know how many people have done it, but you know I’m in both universes. The Marvel Universe, and the DC Universe. Marvel universe with Spider-Man: Far From Home, and I just did the new Spider-Man.”

THE POWER OF LEARNING

While most of this expansive movie will feature high-octane hero vs. villain action, a handful of Midtown High School’s faculty will find themselves with screen time in this movie.

Martin Starr and Hannibal Burress will be coming back

from both previous movies as Mr. Harrington and Coach Wilson, which makes JB Smoove’s return a seemingly natural fit.

As has been mentioned before, it’s still unclear how much time Peter will actually spend at Midtown High considering his laundry list of super problems. With his identity having leaked to the world in

Spider-Man: Far From Home’s

post-credits scene

, he’s going to have quite the interesting experience with his entire school knowing his identity.

No matter how much time JB Smoove sees in

No Way Home

, his return should add to the fun and humor for which the

Spider-Man

series is best known. Whether fans will see his reactions to

villains like the Green Goblin, Sandman, and more

is a mystery, but he does add to the impressive quality of cast this movie is building.

Spider-Man: No Way Home,

starring Tom Holland, will release in theaters on December 17, 2021
