It’s no secret that Disney+ is giving Marvel Studios enough freedom to do a deep dive into several MCU characters, and
WandaVision
appeared to have utilized that opportunity in a unique way.
Serving as a showcase for Wanda Maximoff’s post-
Endgame
adventure
, the series started off as a sitcom filled with traditional TV story beats alongside the surprise resurrection of Paul Bettany’s Vision who previously died at the hands of Thanos from
Avengers: Infinity War
.

This approach raised more questions than answers, but it was made clear later on that not all is what it seemed. As it turns out, Wanda created this sitcom reality by accident, and it ultimately
affected innocent residents of Westview, New Jersey
.
After several sitcom-based episodes
,
WandaVision
shifted into the traditional MCU approach complete with action and mystery tied to the overall lore of the franchise. The big reveal from the hit Marvel series was the transformation of Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda as the Scarlet Witch, with the finale
showing the full evolution of the character
alongside a new costume.
Now, an alternate look at the Scarlet Witch design has been revealed.

A STUNNING LOOK AT THE MCU’S SCARLET WITCH
Marvel Studios Director of Visual Development
Andy Park
posted a brand-new piece of concept art for
WandaVision
, showing off a different design of Elizabeth Olsen’s Marvel hero.
Alongside the reveal, Park described this alternate version as the
“Red Riding Hood look”
of the character, comprised of the cape and hood.
Andy Park
Last month, the Marvel concept artist
posted
a somewhat similar design of Wanda Maximoff without the cape and hood, revealing that it was the
“approved concept design”
of the character for the finale.

THE SCARLET WITCH’S MCU FUTURE EXPLAINED
The image provides another great look at Elizabeth Olsen’s powerful MCU hero, and the inclusion of the cape and hood definitely adds more personality to the character.
Given that Wanda is currently in hiding after
WandaVision
, the cape and hood will no doubt help the character disguise herself from the public. The series showed a glimpse of these two garments in action in the finale when Wanda bid her goodbyes to Westview during the finale, and it’s reasonable to assume that she will continue to use it to evade her captors.

Considering that Wanda can fly, the addition of the cape gives her a stylish vibe when using that specific ability while also paying tribute to Vision’s original look in the MCU. The hood could also serve as a callback to the original witches of Salem, and this could be her way of cementing her status as one of them albeit more powerful.
Wanda’s next adventure is
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,
and it’s pretty much guaranteed that all of these costume elements (including the cape and hood) will be featured in that film.
Still, it remains to be seen how Doctor Strange would react to Wanda’s Westview fiasco, and this story beat will no doubt make the heroes’ initial confrontation a must-see.
