From the get-go,

WandaVision

didn’t waste time

in establishing its sitcom format

by showing Wanda and Vision’s blissful married life in the suburbs without any context. As the show progresses, it slowly became clear that not everything is what it seems, and there is something big behind all of this.

The mystery was further pushed to the forefront when the focus shifted to the real-world,

THE TIGER IS IN THE DETAILS

“Episode 5" of

WandaVision

entitled “On This Very Special Episode” included numerous blink-and-you’ll-miss-it references to a tiger, seemingly hinting that the animal will serve as a hint of things to come for the show.

The first one was during the ’80s-themed opening credits of

WandaVision

, with the scene showing Vision holding the twins in a Tiger-inspired chair.

The second callback was during the early moments of

WandaVision

’s sitcom world when Kathryn Hahn’s Agnes compared herself to a tiger.

AGNES IS “PROTECTING” WANDA AND VISION’S TWINS

On the surface, this little detail might not mean much concerning the payoff for

WandaVision.

However, there’s always a slim chance that the crew behind the series intentionally placed this to provide clues about the bigger revelations down the line.

It’s reasonable to assume that the inclusion of the tigers is symbolic in nature. In general, these feline creatures are known to be very protective of their cubs, and this could hint that someone in Westview is keeping tabs on the twins.

At this point, the main candidate is Kathryn Hahn’s Agnes, considering her bigger role in recent episodes of Wanda’s sitcom reality. Now, this begs the question of why Agnes is trying to safeguard Billy and Tommy inside Westview.

It’s possible that Agnes’ continued involvement in Wanda and Vision’s life inside the Westview anomaly is done willingly, and not based on the sitcom’s script. It was evident throughout the show’s first five episodes that her “character” shows up when the couple needs help with something, ranging from the dinner with the Harts all the way to Sparky’s sudden adoption.

When the twins entered the picture, this made Agnes’ role a bit more complicated, seemingly explaining her larger part in the fabricated storyline.

At this stage, there’s already a strong chance that Agnes is indeed playing the MCU’s Agatha Harkness, and “Episode 5" supports that running theory. If proven true, this tiger reference could directly tie to the character’s history in the comics.

In Marvel Comics, Harkness helped Wanda to deal with the trauma of her lost children by briefly mind-wiping her tragic memories of the ordeal. In a way, it’s likely that Agnes is keeping a careful eye on the twins to protect them from harm or completely disappearing from Westview. After all, the character already pointed out that kids can’t be controlled

“no matter how hard you try.”

With this in mind, the actions of Hahn’s Agnes could be solely intended to keep Wanda as stable as possible inside the Westview bubble, potentially to avoid the entire fabric of reality from breaking apart.

All in all, this is a clever nod to a pivotal moment in Marvel Comics, and it’s fascinating to see that a minor detail like this provides extensive possibilities about the ongoing narrative of the show.
