After being stuck in development for what seemed like forever to fans, production finally began moving for
Black Adam
in the last year.
Jaume Collet-Serra has been attached to direct
and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is officially on board as the titular character himself.
Despite the recent coronavirus outbreak delaying productions, pre-production for
Black Adam
has been moving largely unabated with casting now underway, the most recent of which was
Noah Centineo being cast as Justice League of America member, Atom Smasher

Now, it seems like casting is moving full steam ahead in filling out the key roles for the movie with a new rumor of who exactly Warner Brothers has in mind to play the Carter Hall incarnation of Hawkman.
NEWS
According to The Illuminerdi, Warner Brothers
is eyeing Alexander Skarsgard as Hawkman
in Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s
Black Adam
. He’s most well known for his roles in
The Legend Of Tarzan
alongside Margot Robbie and
Big Little
Lies,
which won him an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor.
The Illuminerdi also reports that while Skarsgard is the front runner for Hawkman, if his casting for the role doesn’t pan out, WB would approach Sam Heughan instead. While his last superhero movie venture was
Bloodshot
, he’s more appreciated in his role as Jamie Fraser on
Outlander
.

WHAT THIS MEANS
This casting means that Warner Brothers are definitely looking for an actor that can believably stand up to the imposing stature of The Rock. Considering that actor Alexander Skarsgard stands at 6'4 that equals the former wrestler’s height. This would actually fit
a previously reported description of the role from Charles Murphy last year
- describing a similar dynamic.
“The studio will be looking to cast an actor, 30-39, to take on the role of [Hawkman] with an emphasis on landing someone the audience can believe could go toe-to-toe with [Black Adam].”
Additionally, this means that it’s likely that the next role fans should hear about being cast is Stargirl despite the fact that the character already has an ongoing show
that was just renewed for a second season
. Having two actors portray the same character on television and film has become commonplace for Warner Bros, with The CW and the DCEU having their own unique versions of The Flash, Superman, and Cyborg, just to name a few.
