While MCU fans wait for the franchise’s seven-week hiatus to finish along with for the franchise’s big-screen movies to return, the late April-early May timeframe brings a number of important release anniversaries to celebrate. April 26 was

the two-year mark for the debut of

Avengers: Endgame

, and one day later comes the anniversary for

its blockbuster predecessor:

Avengers: Infinity War

.

Regarded by many as arguably the MCU’s best outing to date,

Infinity War

held storylines for nearly every major character introduced in the movies before it. All of these heroes did their best

teaming up with each other to face Josh Brolin’s Thanos

, who served as the film’s protagonist as he gathered the six Infinity Stones

for his mission to erase half of all life

.

One of those turned to dust was Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. As it turns out, this was quite the special day for the actor behind Peter Parker both on and off-screen…

HAPPY DUSTING DAY, SPIDEY!

Directors Joe and Anthony Russo took to

Instagram

to share a look back at their experience on Marvel Studios'

Avengers: Infinity War

which released three years ago on April 27, 2018.

The video shows the cast and crew singing “Happy Birthday” to Spider-Man actor Tom Holland on June 1, 2017. Ironically, this is the same day that the team filmed the scene where Spider-Man turned to dust in Tony Stark’s arms after Thanos snapped his fingers with the Infinity Gauntlet.

A BIRTHDAY FIT FOR AN AVENGER

Spider-Man saw plenty of action through the course of

Avengers: Infinity War

in 2018 as he teamed up with Tony Stark, Doctor Strange, and three of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Whether his dusting scene was originally planned for Holland’s birthday is a mystery, but it certainly made for a fun dichotomy as the young actor celebrated life while filming a death scene.

In terms of what happened on screen, this was undoubtedly the most shocking ending in any MCU movie to date as Thanos accomplished his goals. After watching Doctor Strange and the Guardians dissolve into nothing, Parker fought with every fiber of his being to avoid the same fate. However, just like Thanos himself, his demise was seemingly inevitable.

Infinity War

and

Endgame

proved to be the MCU’s most iconic endeavors to date, combining to gross over $4.8 billion at the box office by themselves. It will likely be a long time before Marvel Studios brings a follow-up to these movies, but fans will continue to stick with Phase 4 as stories come for heroes new and old.

Avengers: Infinity War

is available to stream on Disney+.
