One of the strong aspects of the Gal Gadot-led sequel is the film’s villains. The official synopsis of Wonder Woman 1984 already revealed that the film will tackle an enormous conspiracy, and there’s a good chance that this will be led by Maxwell Lord (Pedro Pascal).

Meanwhile, the villainous turn of Kristen Wiig’s Cheetah has been the highlight of promotional materials of the film so far. More so, Wonder Woman 1984 director Patty Jenkins shared that the film will look to explore the interesting dynamic between Diana Prince and Barbara Minerva. Jenkins also hinted that the sequel will feature “a whole different version of Cheetah.”
The marketing efforts of the film has been in full swing, and a new set of clips offer some more insight on the villainous Cheetah.
In an official release from Wonder Woman 1984’s Instagram, as shared by a Twitter fan account, two short teasers of the film has been unveiled which feature a preview of the confrontation between Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman (in full blown golden eagle armor) and Kristen Wiig’s Cheetah:

The second teaser shows Minerva on the run, seemingly showing the early manifestation of Cheetah’s powers. The teaser ends with the character saying, “I want to be an apex predator:”

Aside from the film’s official merchandise and promo art, it is likely that the fans will have to wait to see the full official on-screen look at Wiig’s Cheetah during the film itself. On the flip side, there’s a chance that Cheetah will be heavily featured in the much-anticipated DC FanDome online convention. Regardless, the character’s live-action design has been a long kept secret of the film, and these short teasers just further hyped up the full blown reveal of the villain.
As seen on the video, Diana is somehow concerned with Minerva’s villainous turn, and this could pave the way for an emotional confrontation between former friends. No doubt, Minerva’s desire to become an apex predator could spell trouble for Wonder Woman in the film. This declaration also highlights the fact that Cheetah is a villain that should not be taken lightly.
Wonder Woman 1984 is shaping up to be an interesting addition to the DCEU, and the film’s villains will undoubtedly remain a major point of discussions for many fans.
